Most digital problems announce themselves at the worst possible moment.
A free five-minute check for community legal centres and nonprofits, covering security, accessibility, search visibility, and governance signals. No technical knowledge needed to run it or read it.
Legal centres carry a particular kind of digital responsibility. The people searching for you are often in difficult circumstances. If your website is broken, inaccessible, or invisible in search, that cost is measured in people who needed help and could not find you. The Digital Risk Snapshot gives you a starting picture: quickly, clearly, and without obligation.
The Digital Risk Snapshot is a free online tool for Australian community legal centres, nonprofits, and charitable organisations. It runs a self-assessment covering the areas most likely to cause problems: security and SSL, Google indexing and search visibility, basic accessibility flags, mobile usability, and governance signals that funders and boards increasingly ask about. Results are plain English. No login, no email address, no obligation. If something comes up that needs a closer look, a full Digital Capacity Diagnosis is available, but there is no pressure to go further.
What the snapshot covers
The snapshot assesses six areas of digital governance, answered by you, in plain English, in under two minutes.
Ownership and control
Who manages your domain, hosting, and administrator access, and whether that knowledge is documented and secure.
Currency
How recently your website was updated or redesigned, and whether it still reflects your organisation.
Accessibility
Whether your site has been tested against WCAG standards, the benchmark for accessible public-facing websites.
Security
Whether your systems are actively maintained against known vulnerabilities.
Analytics
Whether you have visibility into how people find and use your site.
Purpose and stakes
How central your website is to your organisation's mission and the communities you serve.
At the end, you receive a risk score. Below 30 suggests strong digital foundations. Between 31 and 60 indicates areas worth attention. Above 60 suggests risks that should be addressed: a full Diagnosis can help you prioritise.
Built for organisations like yours
This tool was built for community legal centres, health charities, advocacy organisations, and nonprofits that rely on their website to deliver services, attract funding, and support vulnerable people.
You do not need a technical background to complete it or understand the results. It is designed for coordinators, managers, and board members: the people responsible for an organisation's reputation and obligations, not its code.
If your organisation depends on its website and nobody is actively watching over it, this is a useful place to start.
Run the snapshot
It is free, takes less than two minutes, and requires nothing more than a few honest answers about your organisation's current digital situation.
No login required. No email address needed unless you would like your results sent to you.
If something comes up
The snapshot gives you a starting picture. For many organisations, that is enough to know where to focus attention and have an informed conversation with whoever manages your website.
If your score suggests deeper problems, a Digital Capacity Diagnosis goes further. Where the snapshot relies on your own knowledge of your organisation, the Diagnosis uses specialist tools to examine your website directly: crawling for technical issues, auditing accessibility against WCAG standards, analysing search visibility data, and stress-testing performance. The findings are produced by a practitioner, not generated automatically, and are written for your board, not your developer. It is a fixed-fee engagement at $1,500 AUD plus GST, with that fee credited toward any subsequent work. There is no obligation to go further after the snapshot. But if the results raise questions you would like to talk through, you are welcome to get in touch.
A few things worth knowing
No account needed
No login, no email address unless you would like your results sent to you. Nothing to install or download.
Your data
Your responses are used only to generate your risk score. They are not stored, shared, or used to contact you.
No catch
This is a genuine free tool, not a lead capture form with an assessment bolted on. If you find it useful and want to talk further, you know where to find us.
